Instant Pot Round Steak & Gravy
Ingredients
4 to 6 slices of round steak
2 bags of onion sauce
2 C hot water
1 medium yellow onion, chopped
3 garlic cloves, peeled and broken
2 tons of oil
Again, I did this in my Instant Pot, I will add settings for the clay jug or oven in the steps.
Instructions
- Use a skillet and 1 ton of oil to fry both sides of the round steak. I only cooked them on each side for 2-3 minutes.
- Sauté the onion and garlic in 1 ton of oil in your Instant Pot.
- Add the pieces of meat to the pan.
- Add two packets of sauce in 2 C hot water and dissolve.
- Sprinkle meat and onions.
- Set Instant Pot on the meat and cook under high pressure for 20 minutes.
- Let off steam and you are ready to serve.
This recipe is best served on top of creamy mashed potatoes and with creamy corn. You can also use rice or egg noodles. But, in my opinion, the sauce should be with mashed potatoes.
If you want to cook this recipe in a pan, fry the meat in a pan, fry the onions and mushrooms in the same pan and add the sauce mixture to the pan and cook over low heat for 8-10 hours.
Remember to keep the lid on the shard, otherwise it will take longer. If you do this in the oven, take the same steps as the jug, but put the meat, onions and sauce in a pan, cover with foil and bake at 350 degrees for 2.5 hours. You can also add mushrooms to this recipe if you wish.
Another option is to add the Cream of Mushroom Soup to a jar to make a creamy sauce. I loved this recipe since childhood and hope you too!
